Animating in Adobe Flash Professional and Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro

When working with Adobe Flash Professional, I imported the background that I had created in Photoshop the drew each frame; frame by frame, working sometimes in 2's and other's in 1's depending on the motion. If I needed quick motion I would use 1's and 2's for slower motion.
I imported my brush into the library so that I could give the charcoal effect drawing.
I separated each scene depending on whether they used the same background and drew from there.
Once I was happy with what I had animated, I then exported the scene as a PNG sequence and imported that into Adobe Premiere Pro editing software:
In here I aligned each of my scenes in time with my animatic. I also added in effects such as snow, mist, panning and zooming and fade-in and fade-outs. 
Using this software I also added in the sound effects and the music which my composer, Rebecca Moroz, had created.


Once I had completed my entire animated sequence both in Flash and Premiere Pro, I exported my film.

Foley Sound Credits

For the Foley sound used on my film I sourced public sound files from freesound.org













Above is all the sound files I used in 'Iceman Omm' to create the ambient noises and foley, e.g. rocks bashing, howling wind or voices from the characters. I also recorded my win voice for some of Cal and Omm's voice.

Schedule

Here is the break down of each scene into how long it is and whether it needs to be an animated scene or stills scene. From this I worked out I need to do three scenes a day, then leave two days for sound editing and three days for footage editing and rendering.

Character Brush Design

While I was beginning to animate, I wasn't quite satisfied with how the animation was looking. The characters began to look too far away from the ink drawing I had loved. So I went about finding a way to incorporate this ‘ink’ style using Flash. Eventually I had the idea of creating a brush in Photoshop that emanated that of ink and import that into Flash.








After a few tries I came up with this brush that worked best with Flash and gave a quality I was satisfied with:

Animatic - Second Version Following Feedback


Below is the link to my second animatic. Following feedback from my precious animatic, it was decided that due to the amount of time I had to complete my animaion, I had to cut out about a minute of foottage and lose a character. This meant that I have now had to sacrifice the character of the Father and his entire involvement in the film. Although this is a disappointing change it is necessary and really the only way I will get to complete my final film in time. It was also felt that with the already limited time, there wasn't enough footage to explore and build the back story for Cal and develop the relationship between him and his father, so it was decided the story would stay just as strong if we left out the father completely.
